Offering Play Now and Waiting List with Kiosk

Everyone should be familiar with the Play Now option on the kiosk that has been available since launch.  This classic option allows customers to choose and pay for their experience through the kiosk.  With Straight to Lane enabled, the kiosk will even assign a lane to the customer.

Many centers enjoy the luxury of having more customers than lanes available and find themselves utilizing the Conqueror Waiting List.  With the bowling waiting list becoming available on the kiosk in early fall, now’s the time to get your system fine tuned, make sure SMS is turned on, and come up with a plan to roll out to customers as soon as it is available. Yes, that’s right in early fall, customers will have the convenience of joining the bowling waiting list from the kiosk.   Using the Bowling Waiting List option, your guests will be able to enter information about their group, choose between time or game experiences, and be provided with information on how their request will be managed by your center.

The waiting list can be enabled from your kiosk services on the QPortal.  Keep in mind, it is recommended to disable Play Now when activating the Waiting List to avoid customers skipping the line.  Now’s the time to learn what needs to be done when the waiting list becomes available this fall. Shutdown Procedures

Summer is a great time to pause and review some best practices to keep your center running at peak performance.  One of these best practices is ensuring you are power cycling the computers and electronic components that make up your scoring system once a week.  Rebooting your scoring components and pcs will speed up their performance, flush the memory on them, and help them run smoothly.   Choosing a day when your business is slower or opens later, then setting a recurring appointment to take care of this each week is ideal.

As part of a regular weekly rebooting procedure QubicaAMF recommends you fully shut down any Conqueror PCs and your Conqueror server, before powering them back on.  You can use this time to check for any Windows updates that are pending installation.  After checking your computers, next unplug the power cable on the control units for your scoring system.  Depending on which scoring type you have these will either be VDBs, RDBs, 3QTs, 4HD hubs, or 5HD hubs.  Give each component a few minutes rest time, then plug them back in.  If you have any additional features on your lanes such as intercom, TCS, MMS, CenterPunch lighting, or Hyperbowling, repeat this process of unplugging the control box for each, then plugging it back in.  You may also consider power cycling any credit card pin pads you have during this time as well as the over lane monitors.

Making these practices a regular routine at your center will have your scoring running at maximum performance no matter how busy things get during the summer months ahead.
